A Message from our Principal

Dear Parents,

At Park Hills Elementary we work daily to create and maintain an environment that enables every child to show continuous growth of learning. Each day our students are greeted with a challenge to make it their best. Our school motto this year is Expecting Excellence Everyday from Everyone. We incorporate this motto into all we do. We have made excellence a focus for our work ethic, our respect and courtesy toward one another and our table manners in our cafeteria.

We will keep this motto as our focus as we all work diligently to ensure your child will receive the best education possible. It is so very important that teachers and administration work very closely with parents in order to benefit each child. We also invite parents and community members to be a part of our school by volunteering or mentoring our students.

Please check our upcoming events to be sure you are a part of the important happenings here at Park Hills. We appreciate your support and look forward to your participation.

Sincerely,
Debra Waldron

Flu Prevention

Dear Parents:

This letter will help your family prepare for a flu pandemic that could make many people sick.

It is important to know that at this time there is no pandemic flu of any kind in the United States. There is also no bird/avian flu in the United States at this time.

Public health officials are worried the bird/avian flu virus may change so that it can infect people and spread easily from person-to-person. This would cause a worldwide flu outbreak, called a pandemic.

Public health officials want people to protect themselves against pandemic flu.

Here are some ways to protect your family:
• Keep children who are sick at home. Don’t send them to school; if you do, you will be required to pick them up from school.
• Teach your children to wash hands often with soap and water. Be sure to set a good example by doing this yourself.
• Teach your children to cover coughs and sneezes with tissues or by coughing into the inside of the elbow.
• Teach your children to stay away from people who are sick.
• People who are sick should stay home from work or school and avoid other people until they are better.
• In an effort to prevent the spread of illness, please send a box of tissues and hand sanitizer with your child to school.

Enclosed with this letter is a checklist to help families get ready for a pandemic flu outbreak. This information can also help your family get ready for any kind of emergency.

If you have questions, please contact your healthcare provider, school nurse, or your local public health department (Spartanburg County Health Department, 151 E. Wood Street, Spartanburg, SC, 596-3337). www.pandemicflu.gov

Sincerely,

Debra Waldron
